AMD's Next-Gen "Medusa Halo" APU Could Rival RTX 5070 Ti Performance

According to recent leaks from Moore's Law is Dead, AMD's upcoming Zen 6 architecture mobile APU, codenamed "Medusa Halo," is set to deliver unprecedented combined CPU and GPU performance that could potentially rival NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Ti graphics card.

The Medusa Halo APU will reportedly feature a robust 24-core, 48-thread Zen 6 architecture CPU paired with an integrated RDNA 3.X architecture GPU boasting up to 48 compute units (CUs).

This powerful configuration is expected to excel not only in multitasking and productivity workloads but also deliver exceptional gaming performance. Performance projections suggest it will surpass the current Strix Halo APU and approach the capabilities of NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Ti.

Additionally, the Medusa Halo APU will support an impressive 384-bit memory interface, a significant upgrade from the current 256-bit width. This enhancement should substantially improve bandwidth and performance, further optimizing gaming and graphics processing capabilities.

This strategic focus might explain why AMD hasn't widely launched its RX 9000 series mobile graphics cards. Rather than allocating valuable wafers to mobile discrete GPUs, AMD appears to be concentrating its resources on developing the more powerful Medusa Point and Medusa Halo APUs.
